ChatNGO Labs: Building the Future of AI for Food System Reform

A strategic laboratory initiative by Stray Dog Institute. We’re onboarding 250 AI innovators to build, test, apply, and share AI tools that will transform how we work to reduce, reform, and replace animals in the food system.
Join us in exploring cutting-edge AI capabilities, including Model Context Protocols that break down information silos and enable seamless knowledge sharing across organizations.

Introducing ChatNGO Labs

The Vision: Breaking Down Silos, Building Up Impact

Our movement includes brilliant organizations producing valuable research and insights, but critical knowledge often remains isolated on websites and in reports. Meanwhile, advocates juggle multiple tools and platforms, losing time and focus switching between applications.

ChatNGO Labs addresses these challenges by creating a unified AI ecosystem where allies can easily leverage each other’s organizational knowledge through advanced AI capabilities.

The Platform: Simtheory’s Advanced Capabilities

The Simtheory platform that powers ChatNGO Labs provides access to multiple AI models and advanced features, including Model Context Protocols (MCPs). MCPs allow organizations to package their knowledge into accessible servers, breaking down information silos and creating shared intelligence across the movement.

Key capabilities include:

  • Unified AI Access: Work with multiple AI models (Claude Sonnet 4, Gemini 2.5 Pro, GPT-4o, etc.) from a single interface
  • Model Context Protocols (MCPs): Connect to organizational knowledge servers, turning static resources into queryable, actionable intelligence
  • Connected Workflows: Integrate with existing tools like Google Drive, Gmail, research databases, and other essential tools
  • Advanced Automation: Execute multi-step projects through connected applications

The Lab: 250 AI Innovators

ChatNGO Labs has capacity for 250 innovators who would like to help co-create the future of AI for the movement. We’re seeking experienced AI users who are ready to push boundaries and explore what’s possible when powerful technology meets strategic advocacy.

An AI innovator in our context is someone who meets the following criteria:

  • Experienced with AI tools and eager to explore advanced applications
  • Interested in developing and sharing new workflows for the movement
  • Committed to contributing feedback and best practices to directly inform long-term strategies for the movement’s responsible AI adoption
  • Working to reduce, reform, or replace animals in the food system

What you’ll receive:

  • Full access to the Simtheory platform
  • Comprehensive training on MCPs and advanced features
  • Collaborative workspace with fellow innovators
  • Direct input into the future development of ChatNGO

If you are unsure about your AI maturity or experience level, we recommend reviewing the AI Adoption Maturity Model from AI Impact Hub. Participants should be at least Level 3.

Privacy, Security and Usage

Stray Dog Institute and Simtheory prioritize data protection and user privacy. No user data is used to train AI models, and we do not have access to user chats, nor do admins or other user roles. All conversations remain private to individual users. Additionally, some organizations may wish to purchase their own private workspaces for enhanced organizational control and internal collaboration.

Please note: While we cannot see individual chats, we do have access to usage analytics. If users are inactive for an extended period, we will reach out to discuss transferring their seat to another active participant.

The Future We’re Building

ChatNGO Labs is the laboratory for what ChatNGO may become. We are still exploring how the tools developed could be integrated into the daily work of advocates, but at a minimum, the platform will provide access to specialized AI capabilities as needed and serve as a powerful complement to the AI resources available through Google Workspace and other providers.

Your participation will directly inform our long-term AI strategy for the movement and help us build the infrastructure for more effective, collaborative advocacy.
